Norma Ruth Parker

January 29, 1939 – June 19, 2017

In sadness, we announce the passing of Norma Ruth Parker (ex. Ryan, nee Everard) at Central Okanagan Hospice House on the morning of June 19, 2017. Her unique combination of great compassion and strong will was a true inspiration to her family, and all that knew her. A successful career in real estate, dedicated service as a Rotarian (including being an early female member and a local President), a love of family, dogs, boating, travel, gardening, and needlework helped her live life to its fullest.

Born January 29, 1939 in Vancouver BC, to Ernest Van Norman and Mary Louise Everard, Norma spent her formative years in the Trail and Christina Lake area. With first husband Dan Ryan, she made homes in various locations across Western Canada raising two daughters; Ruth and Crystal. With her children grown, Norma started her real estate career and married her second husband Len Parker. Together they also owned and operated Mar Beu Investments property management in White Rock. Widowed, she found happiness with third husband, Bob Leadbeater, and retired in Kelowna remaining active with Rotary and her other interests.

Predeceased by her parents, husbands Len and Bob, son-in-law Brian Bessem, step children Don and Tannis, Norma is survived by ex-husband Dan (Marilyn) Ryan, daughters Ruth (Gord) Lockwood, and Crystal Bessem, step son Cam (Stephanie) Leadbeater, grandchildren Ryan Lockwood, Sarah (Bruce) Baldini, Christopher (fiancé Kirsty Gilliland) and Michael Bessem, Steven and Craig Leadbeater, sister Joan (Lorne) Reid, Aunt Mildred Price and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family thanks all of the doctors, nurses, and staff for their compassion and care at the Central Okanagan Hospice House, the Kelowna General Hospital, and the BC Cancer Agency. By request, there is no public service.

A memorial gift to any of the above agencies in lieu of flowers is preferred. Arrangements courtesy of Everden Rust with condolences via www.everdenrust.com 250-860-6440
