MISH, Stanley Albin

April 20, 1925 – June 2, 2017

 

With much love and sadness we announce the passing of Stan at the age of 92 years.  Stan was born in Penzance, and raised in the Summerberry and Qu’Appelle areas of Saskatchewan .  At 18 years of age Stan volunteered with the Canadian Army serving as a Signalman during the WW II campaign that liberated Holland.  Stan continued to serve with the Canadian Army through the end of WW II.

Stan met and married the love of his life, Betty Morden in 1947 and moved to Richmond, B.C. where they raised their family.  Stan and Betty moved to West Kelowna, B.C. in September of 2014.

In 1949 Stan began a 32-year career with Canada Post retiring at age 55.  Stan enjoyed his work and the fellowship of his co-workers.  Stan enjoyed a variety of sports, he was an avid golfer while enjoying curling and skiing. 

Stan is predeceased by Betty, his wife of 68 years.  Stan is also predeceased by his sisters Irene Martin, Mildred Grant and, brothers Sam, Walt and Ed Mish.  Stan is survived by his daughters, Donna (Bill) Shumborski of Kelowna, B.C. and, Karel (Gordy) Miller of Richmond, B.C. and, his grandchildren, Rielly and Brett Miller of Richmond, B.C.  Family was most important to Stan, he was very proud and always supportive of his daughters and grandchildren.

Stan will always be remembered for his good nature, his positive attitude and his good sense of humor. 

Our family is deeply grateful to the staff of the Brookhaven Care Centre, West Kelowna, B.C. for their care and support of Stan since September of 2014.
