William James McElwee

In Memory of William James McElwee Bill After a brief, but sudden illness, Bill passed away on November 28, 2008 at the age of 82 years. Dad was born on January 16, 1926 in Oshawa, Ontario. He was predeceased by his wife, Marge, his brother Leonard and his two sisters: Margaret Carter and Mildred McElwee. He is survived by his two sons: Jim (Berne) of Kamloops and Don and his two daughters: Nicki and Kaylie all of Cranbrook, niece Wendy McElwee of Langley, nephews: Len McElwee of Langley, Franklin Carter of Etobicoke, ON and John Carter of Kanata, ON. Bill spent 23 years with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Cranbrook and Vancouver and retired as Staff Sergeant in Vancouver. He then undertook a new career when he and two other retired RCMP members started the BC Tel Security Department in Kamloops. He retired from the telephone company in Kelowna in 1991. Bill was also a long-standing member of the Masonic Lodge and contributed greatly to the Shrine Philanthropy. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. S. Treissman, Dr. A. Sommerville and the staff of RIH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation 399 Royal Ave. Kelowna, BC V1Y 5L3 in memory of Bill would be appreciated. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 6, 2008 in the Chapel of Personal Alternative Funeral Services, 177 Tranquille Rd.
