Letter: Why not build Kelowna’s sandbag centre (wink)?

There should be sufficient sandbags available, construction costs will be minimal

To the editor:

Good news and bad news. The good news is that the water levels in Okanagan Lake have stopped rising and the threat of further flooding has somewhat diminished.

The bad news is that we are stuck with the construction of a new visitors center that the majority of residents opposed as well as the high costs associated with it.

Solution: Build the new center out of sandbags. There should be sufficient number available, construction costs will be minimal, it will be safe in the event of future floods, and if things don’t work out, just disassemble it.
