Transit drivers commended
To the editor:
A very big thank you to bus drivers of the Kelowna Regional Transit System who frequently dropped me off closer to my residence as the sidewalks near the regular bus stop were covered by compact snow for several days prior to Christmas.
And with the warmer temperatures, those sidewalks became extremely treacherous for me during my walks to and from the bus stop to my home.
Many seniors and others living on fixed incomes have no alternative system to get around while carrying out our daily activities.
When the transit system was introduced, bus routes were designed to be integrated with one another to provide safe and efficient service with little delay in transferring from one bus to another.
It is unfortunate both our local and provincial governments have allowed the transit service to deteriorate to such an extent the public has become reluctant to use this very important and necessary service.
