Nobody listening on pipeline decision

Re: Column by Tom Fletcher (Inconvenient Truth of Oil Pollution, Jan. 18, Capital News)
Responsible reporting it was not. Fletcher focused on one area of study with many variables and large margins for error. It was a lot of bafflegab.
Does Fletcher work for Black Press or the government of China? Big oil, Petro China, Enbridge and the Conservative federal government must have got through to him.
You cannot convince anyone that Environment Canada is unbiased. Who sponsored studies by the “other scientists?”
Reporting by The New York Times and BBC may have been sensationalized, but it was true.
How many times must the message be heard? We don’t need or want Enbridge’s Northern Gateway or any increase in oil tanker traffic on our West Coast.
It could be suggested that the oil sands product be refined at or near the source, sold to Canadians at a reasonable price and China could use the profit to buy oil from other sources that already have heavy tanker traffic and polluted coastlines. Has this been given any consideration?
Enbridge and the federal government are determined to give in to China. Both talk a lot about the environment, but they don’t really care.
When the first spill or disaster happens, the Enbridge officials behind this decision will have received their huge severance packages and the MPs will be on their multi-million dollar pensions.
