Letter: FortisBC will reconcile actual use to estimate

To the editor:

Some FortisBC customers have asked about how electricity bill estimates made during the recent labour disruption will be adjusted to reflect actual usage now that our employees are back to work.

It’s important to note that your electricity meter reads the total amount of electricity you have used since it was installed—it is not reset after each read. This means that once a verified meter reading is obtained, FortisBC will be able to reconcile your account with the correct amount of consumption.

Your bill will be adjusted if your estimated electricity use is different than your actual use.

FortisBC will make sure you receive maximum benefit from the Residential Conservation Rate. This will be done by ensuring the lower cost Tier 1 is fully utilized during the past six months. If this results in a difference in your favour, a credit adjustment will be provided in the March billing cycle.

If you are concerned about your bill, need help making alternate payment arrangements, or are looking for ways to save energy, you can call our customer contact centre at 1-866-436-7847.

Thank you for your understanding.

Nicole Vandenakker,

senior manager, Billing Operations,

FortisBC
