Letter: Opinionated columnist should be ‘adjusted’

To the editor:

Re: Tom Fletcher’s weekly column, Another Year of Enviro-wars Begins, Jan. 7 Capital News.

I don’t believe your newspaper should publish regularly a one-sided, head-in-the-sand columnist’s opinion, which to me is so obviously devoid of real life facts.

I am referring to Fletcher’s column in which he says, while the planet is proven to be warming up drastically, that the polar ice is melting at an alarming rate, he insists these actual facts are figments of a few scientists and enviro-nuts.

His imaginations are so far off the mark of any reality, that even a five-year-old can see the planet is definitely facing a huge catastrophe because of fossil fuel extractions and other human destructive practices.

Yet he calls people who see reality and want to change it as empty-headed, stupid, neurotic, etc.

In reality, he is the empty-headed one, and he makes your newspaper look bad by allowing him to regularly spew off complete garbage.

A good columnist tries to see both sides, and carefully balances reality, opinion and proof before he/she opens their mouth.

I would thoroughly appreciate it if Tom Fletcher adjusted his context to a realistic rant, or not rant at all.

Helene Stuhlberg,
