Letter: Easter ‘bully’ shatters peace all weekend

To the editor:

Southeast Kelowna residents were forced indoors last Easter Weekend as the Kelowna District Fish and Game Club hosted a two-day handgun competition.

Gunfire erupted, cracking through the sky at 9 a.m. Saturday morning, April 19. More than 19,000 shots were discharged over the two-day period, ending late Sunday afternoon, April 20.

With no forewarning or consultation with local residents, the KDFG has shown no consideration for its neighbours.  Easter, celebrating of the resurrection of Jesus, was ushered in by the gun club with a storm of thunderous rifle fire and piercing blasts from semi-automatic handguns; sounding more like a military invasion rather than a time of peace.

To Kelowna residents who are concerned with the negative impact that the Kelowna gun range is having on your daily lives, please contact me by e-mail to share your experiences at peacefulSEK@gmail.com.

Let us work together to find a solution to this ongoing disregard for community members’ health and well-being.
