The golf season at Shannon Lake Golf Club is off to a good start as the course opened in terrific shape and has gotten better ever since. The facility is in the process of outfitting the golf course with new tee box signage and tee markers, while also updating all on course amenities.

In tournament play so far this year, the team of Harold Menges, Don Turk, Larry Preston and Rick Schramm won the annual Master’s Pro-Am Tournament at Shannon Lake, combining their three best net scores with Matt Kuchar’s Sunday round of 69 at the Augusta National Golf Club. Their 268 total was a good for a seven shot win over Ray Gould, Ed Graham, Dan Pedersen and Ryan Dunkley, who combined with Bubba Watson’s final round 68 at Augusta.

In May, 28 teams competed in the annual SLGC Two-Man Scramble. Larry Kilback and Glen Erickson combined for a six-under-par 65 to win by a shot over Ed and Jason Graham. Ray Gould and John Jacoby were third at 67. The overall Low net winners were Greg Sibbald and Doug Johnston, followed in second place by Eric Solland and Andrew Boyle.

Upcoming this month is Shannon Lake's Ladies Club annual tournament on June 14 with a four-player team modified Stableford format, a change from the past two-ball format.

Tower Ranch Golf Course is up and running with new owners, the Carrington Group of Companies looking to upgrade the exposure for the course and continue with excellent course conditions.

Tower Ranch has an upcoming Father's Day special where locals can play with Dad for a cut-rate green fee and take advantage of drink and dinner specials.

Conditions early this year are great and the greens at Tower are rolling terrific, according to general manager Neil Schmidt.
