Kelowna's Quest Academy to host Canadian event
Kelowna's Quest Academy will play host to the Canadian Open Tae Kwon Do Championship on Saturday, April 27.
The owner of Quest, Chris Rowe, will serve as the director for this year's event.
The championships are open to athletes from TKD International academies and TKD schools all across the country.
TKDI members in Dallas, Texas and England have both committed to send players to this prestigious event as international guests.
The Canadian Open is a precursor to the World TKD Championships July 13 to 15 in England.
Also attending the championship in Kelowna will be one of the most senior Grand Masters in the world, C.K. Choi. He holds the rank of 9th degree, the highest black belt rank possible in TKD.
Local content will include Kelowna's Jonathan Zaleski, a former world champion in Italy. Zaleski was silver medalist at the European Open Championships held in Krakow, Poland this past fall and will be representing Canada as the current national heavy weight champion.
