Marilyn Hedman on ballot for Kraft Hockey Goes On
For more than two decades, Marilyn Hedman has been vital part of the operation of the Kelowna Minor Hockey Association.
Her tireless, behind-the-scenes work as the KMHA registrar is being recognized this spring by the 'Kraft Hockey Goes On' competition.
Hedman is among the 100 finalists in the cross-Canada competition and one of 20 finalists from the Pacific region.
The top five grand prize winners—one from each region across the country—will win $100,000 for their respective associations.
Another 20 finalists will receive $20,000 each.
Kraft Hockey Goes On is running in place of the traditional Hockeyville competition which was cancelled this year due to the NHL lockout.
Hedman was nominated by KMHA director of operations Corrine Reid for her tireless work with the annual registration of 1,400 players and volunteers.
"When you talk about somebody you would consider as very important to our hockey community, Marilyn is right at the top," said Reid. "She gives thousands of hours and has done so each year for 22 years with very little acknowledgement. She's very deserving of the recognition."
A winner will be determined by marathon voting this weekend.
Voting for Kraft Goes On starts at 6 a.m. Pacific on Saturday and runs until Sunday night at 9. For more information and to vote, visit krafthockeygoeson.ca.
KMHA will also be setting up a voting station at Rutland Arena from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
People are eligible to vote as many times as they wish.
