When it comes to the U14 boys division in B.C.l alpine skiing, Zane Torres stands alone at the top of the mountain.

The Big White Racer and Kelowna product turned in an outstanding weekend of skiing at the Teck U14 championships at Silver Star to win the overall title.

Torres took top spot in both the slalom and ski cross events, while adding a second-place showing in the giant slalom.

"I thought I did pretty well," said Torres, 13, a Grade 8 student at Okanagan Mission Secondary. "The snow was a little soft with the warm weather, but I had a really good slalom on Saturday. I had a few troubles in the GS, but it all went pretty good."

As for winning his first provincial overall title, Torres was pleased with final result.

"I thought I had a pretty good chance (to win)," Torres said. "It's a pretty big feat for me.

Torres credited his coaches, his parents, and his sponsor, Rossignol, for his success on the slopes this season.

Torres will compete this weekend at the Whistler Cup, then will wrap up the season the following weekend at the Okanagan zone finals at Revelstoke.
