Kelowna gymnasts win hardware in Abbotsford and Calgary

Okanagan Gymnastics Centre men's artistic athletes made multiple trips to the podium at the third trials for the national championships held recently in Abbotsford.

In the level 1category, William Plant earned a silver on pommel horse,  along with golds in all other five events and in the all around.

In the Level 2 category, Brady Clegg earned a gold medal on the horizontal bar and a bronze medal on the pommel horse.

Cameron McMahon competed in the Level 3 over 13 category and earned gold all around.

In the National Youth category, Kolten Marino earned a gold medal on the floor exercise.

Meanwhile, the acrobatic gymnastics team travelled to Calgary to compete in their second competition of the season.

Jackson Peters and Laura Wrighton, mixed pair in level 11-16 in the 17+ age group, won silver with a score of 22.067 for their Dynamic Routine and a score of 25.033, for a combined score of 47.1.

Madison Arnold and Shaylyn To, in women's pair level 11-16 in age group of 17+,  won gold with a score of 24.967 on their Balance Routine and a 22.233 on their Dynamic Routine, for a combined score 47.2.

Ellen Bradford and Sadie Mamchur won bronze medals for their Level 7 Combined Routine with a score of 22.133.

Their coach Shawna Peters is proud of her team and is excited to have her team be pioneers in the growing sport of acrobatic gymnastics in Canada.  The team prepares for competitions in Texas later in the season.
