Kelowna Chiefs add to coaching staff
The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League's Kelowna Chiefs have added a new coach to the mix for the upcoming season.
Jason Tansem will serve as an assistant to Chiefs' head coach Ken Andrusiak for the 2013-14 campaign, joining GM/assistant Grant Sheridan and assistant Matt Dyck on the club's coaching staff.
Tansem, who brings with him many years of hockey experience, was most recently the head mentor coach of the Westside Minor Hockey Association.
The Chiefs also announced this week that a number of new players have committed to the club for the 2013-14 KIJHL campaign.
Local players include: Kevin Roth, Adam Beatty, Nick Gnazdowsky, Braeden Cyra, Linden Hora, and Nick Kovacik.
The new signings were in their Chiefs jerseys this past Saturday, as the team continued its mantra of 'Building a Stronger Community' after participating in the Rutland May Day Parade and the Valley First Grand opening barbecue.
The Kelowna Chiefs' main training camp is set for Rutland Arena, Aug. 26 to 29.
The Chiefs will be entering their fourth season in the KIJHL after relocating to Kelowna from Chase prior to the 2010-11 season.
