Raiders suffer first loss in junior lacrosse

The Vernon Tigers handed Kelowna its first loss of the season and in the process kept the

first-place Raiders within range in the Thompson Okanagan Junior Lacrosse League.

On Saturday at Wesbild Centre, Jordan Orr had two goals and nine points as the Tigers outscored the Raiders 15-9.

Patrick McMillan scored a hat-trick in the loss, while Andrew McMillan and Evan Helgesen each scored twice. The Tigers held league-leading scorer Brendan Urban to just two points.

Two nights earlier, Urban had eight goals and 11 points as the Raiders beat the Tigers 14-10 in Kelowna.

The Raiders (8-1-1) now lead the Tigers (7-2-0) by three points for top spot. The Raiders have six games remaining the regular season.

Kelowna returns to action Thursday as they Arnstrong Shamrocks pay a visit to Memorial Arena.

Senior Raiders…

The Armstrong Shamrocks defeated the Kelowna Raiders for the first time in the Thompson Okanagan Senior Lacrosse League season scoring a 14-9 victory Friday at the Nor-Val Centre.

Joe Brown scored four times in the loss for the Raiders who were undermanned due suspensions to Jordan Innes and Taylor Trotter, and injuries to Kyle MacLennan and Darcy Leach.

Braden Renner, Darren Lornson, Jacob Illichmann, Matt Gorges and Ryan Sage scored singles for the Raiders, now 3-3 on the season.

On Friday night, the Raiders will visit Kamloops.
