Rattlers take down Raiders in senior lacrosse

The Kamloops Rattlers were firing on all cylinders over the final 40 minutes to defeat the hometown Kelowna Raiders 15-7 Friday night in Thompson Okanagan Senior Lacrosse League action.

Led by sniper A.J. Lockwood, the Rattlers overcame a 3-2 first period deficit with five goals in the second and seven more in the third period to cruise to the win.

Lockwood scored six times, while Kamloops goalie Mike Smith kept the Kelowna offense pretty much at bay over the final two periods.

The Raiders (4-5) were led by Braden Renner, with a pair, while singles came from Nick Evans, Darcy Leach, Jordan Innes, Joe Brown and Victor Wiens.

The clubs will close out the regular season Friday, July 5 in Kelowna.

Junior Raiders…

The Kelowna Raiders have their sights set on a first place finish as they

close out the Thompson Okanagan Junior Lacrosse League  Thursday night at home to the Armstrong Shamrocks. Game time at Memorial Arena is 7:30.

A win would give the Raiders top spot, while a loss would mean a second-place finish.

The Raiders (11-3-1) trail the Vernon Tigers (12-3-1) by two points for first, but with a win would claim top spot due to more total goals scored during the regular season.

The TOJLL playoffs begin next week.
