Many of Canada's top five and 10-pin bowling teams converged on Kelowna last weekend for the 2013 National Classified Bowling Championships at McCurdy Bowling Centre and Capri Valley Lanes.

The lone Kelowna-based team at the annual national showcase competed in the women's 10-pin event, with McCurdy's Charmaine Loff, Averil Radke, Ashtin Grunwald and Nancy Cobb representing Team B.C.

The local women finished just out of the medals, taking fourth place overall in the 10-pin event. Northern Ontario won gold, Saskatchewan took silver and Southern Ontario won the bronze.

Nancy Cobb posted the high average for the B.C. team at 186.4, as well as the best single with a 234.

In the men's 10-pin competition at McCurdy, Saskatchewan won gold, Northern Ontario won silver, and Southern Ontario, the bronze.

Meanwhile, Team B.C. felt right at home in capturing the men's national five-pin title at Capri Valley Lanes.

The team from the Merritt Bowling Centre earned the gold medal ahead of Maintoba and Newfoundland.

The Canadian championship team is Jordan Pinto, Harold Aljam, Jerrid Chandler, Tony Abraria and Cody Hostrawser.

In the women's five pin championship, Alberta and Northern Ontario tied for first, with Alberta taking gold in a tiebreaker roll-off.

Manitoba won the bronze, while B.C.'s team, from Lincoln Lanes in Vernon, placed sixth.
