Okanagan Rockets cap solid exhibition season

If the preseason can be used as an accurate measuring stick, then look for the Okanagan Rockets to score in bunches during the 2013-14 B.C. Major Midget League season.

The Rockets concluded the exhibition campaign with a pair of lopsided wins over the weekend at CNC.

On Friday, Liam Finley scored twice and added three assists as the Rockets drubbed the Kootenay Ice 13-2. Gen Bryshun and Tanner Browne each had a pair of goals from the back end, while Tyson Jost with a pair, while Jake Kryski, Cole Woodliffe, Kobe Oishi, Tanner Campbell, and Cory Santoro added singles.

On Saturday, Okanagan followed up with a 7-2 dismantling of the Cariboo Cougars.

Finley again set the offensive pace with two goals, his fifth and sixth of the preseason, while Bryshun and Brett Young, Jost, Santoro and Mitchell Oliver rounded out the scoring.

Brendan Barry was solid as he stopped 34 of 36 shots. Barry finished the pre-season with sparkling .935 save percentage.

The Rockets finished the exhibition season at 5-1 and outscored their opponents 34-14 in the process.

Okanagan opens its regular season this weekend at CNC against the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds—Saturday at 3 p.m and Sunday at 10 a.m.
