Okanagan Rockets settle for split with Hawks

The Okanagan Rockets settled for a split with the Valley West Hawks on the second weekend of the B.C. Major Midget League's regular season.

As part of the league's annual showcase weekend at the Richmond Oval, the Rockets downed the Hawks 5-4 on Saturday.

Tanner Wishnowski, Branden Wagner, Mahlon Head, Mitchell Oliver and Cory Santoro scored in a well-rounded attack for the Rockets, while Reid Kilburn earned the win in his first start of the season in goal.

On Sunday, the Hawks rebounded from a 2-1 deficit after 40 minutes to down the Rockets 4-2. Tyson Jost scored both goals for the Rockets who lost for the first time this season.

Kilburn stopped 27 shots in the loss.

This weekend the Rockets (3-1-0) will meet the Thompson Blazers in a  home-and-home set—Saturday in Kamloops, then Sunday at CNC in a 5:15 p.m face off.
