Two members of the Okanagan Gymnastics Centre have earned spots on the B.C. team for women's artistic gymnastics.

Gabriela Beselt and Lucia Jakab both qualified for the provincial squad thanks to their performances last weekend at the Fall Classic competition in North Vancouver.

Beselt and Jakab competed in the Pre-novice Elite category. Both girls competed in the Aspire category last season, and this competition was their first attempt at the Elite level.  The girls have both qualified to represent Team B.C. at the National Stream Cup which will be held in Montreal, Jan. 17 to 19, 2014.  Their coach, Sergei Chelest, was named Team B.C. coach and will be joining the girls in Quebec.

Beselt earned three bronze medals for her performances on the uneven bars and floor exercise which earned her a third place finish in the all-around.  Jakab earned a silver medal on the uneven bars.

Pre-novice is a national streamed category developed in Canada as a developmental program, paving the way toward national level competition.  This category is only eligible for athletes born between 2003 and 2005 and aims the girls toward competing in the national novice category by the age of 12.
