The Kelowna Skating Club put in a strong performance at the Okanagan Regional Figure Skating Championships last weekend in Penticton.

Twenty-seven local skaters captured 38 medals in total as well as six Regional titles.

A highlight for the Kelowna team occurred in the Pre-Novice Women’s event, where local skaters swept the podium.

Leading the team was 12-year-old Mckenna Colthorp, as she won both segments with a combined 100.37 points, a personal best.  In fact, the score is the highest posted by a BC Pre-Novice female since the inception of the New Judging System.

Kelowna’s Rochelle Reeve and Madison Delcourt captured the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

More podium sweeps took place in the Pre-Juvenile Women’s divisions.

In the Under 11 event, 10-year-old Maya Rose skated a personal best 29.9 points to take the gold, flanked by Mikayla Consiglio and Summer Peitsch.

In the Under 14’s, the Kelowna trio of Kaiya MacLeod, Makenna Jensen, and Sally Haaheim took gold, silver, and bronze medals, respectively.

Two Kelowna skaters achieved the trifecta of a personal best score, a regional title, and an artistic award.  The first was ten year-old Olivia Gran in the Juvenile Women U11, while seven year-old Carson Consiglio did likewise in Pre-Juvenile Men.

Next up for the Kelowna Skating Club is the B.C. Winter Games this week, as six local skaters will are in Mission to compete with BC’s top Juvenile and Pre-Novice level skaters.
