Richdale qualifies for Canadian Open

It was a busy and productive week of golf for Samantha Richdale.

Last Thursday in Komoka, Ont., the Kelowna product finished a tie for fourth place at the CPGA Canadian Women's Championship.

Richdale posted rounds of 71 and 69 to finish the 36-hole tourney at 4-under part 140, nine shots back of champion Brooke Henderson.

More importantly, the result earned Richdale an exemption into the Canadian Pacific Women's Open later this month in London. For her efforts, Richdale picked up $5,000.

But she wasn't done there. Richdale headed to Syracuse, NY the following day for the Symetra Tour's Credit Union Classic where she went on to finish in a tie for ninth place.

Her three-round score of 5-under par 208 (70-71-67) was worth $2,005 and was her best finish of the season on the Symetra Tour.

Richdale is currently ranked 46th on the money list with season earnings of $13,642.

This weekend, she'll head to New Hampshire for the New England Charity Classic.

The CPGA Canadian Women's Championship is set for Aug. 21 to 25 at the London Hunt Club.

Junior girls…

Tiegan Taylor and Kyle Jack each had their moments but finished out of the top 50 last week at the Canadian Junior Girls Golf Championship in Thornhill, Ont.

Taylor went 80-88-83 before finishing with her best round of the tournament, a 77, to place in a tie for 56th.

Jack opened with rounds of 80 and 78, but fell to 82 and 89 over the last two days to finish tied for 58th.
