Seventeen medals for Kelowna skaters

The Kelowna Skating Club had a very strong outing at the 2014 Super Series B.C. Summerskate competition Aug. 14 to 17 in Burnaby.

In all, 28 local skaters returned to Kelowna with 17 medals, competing with top skaters from BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.

Leading the team was 11 year-old Olivia Gran, who won both segments of Pre-Novice Women under 14 group 1, taking the gold medal with a total score of 91.89 points.

In group 2, Kelowna’s Rochelle Reeve took silver.

At the Junior level, Cailey England finished 2nd in a very strong field of skaters.

At the Novice level, 13-year-old Mckenna Colthorp won silver in group 1, while her club mates Ajsha Gorman and Olivia Marleau won silver and bronze respectively, in group 2.

Kelowna showed strength at the younger divisions as well, winning three of a possible four gold medals in the Pre-Juvenile Women under 11 groups.

Daria Carr won group 1 with a personal-best 32.49 points, followed by Mikayla Consiglio.

Meanwhile, Kelowna’s Ashley Sales won group 2 with a score of 33.37.

Maya Rose and Alexis Garost took the gold and bronze medals, respectively, in group 3, while Summer Peitsch took silver in group 4.

At the U14 division of Pre-Juvenile Women, Madeline Foley skated to the silver medal in group 2.

On the men’s side, eight year-old Carson Consiglio skated a clean performance to take the silver medal in Pre-Juvenile men.  His score of 28.14 points was just .09 points shy of the winning score.

At the STAR5 level, Kelowna’s Vienna Harwood and Mackenzie Nelmes won the gold and silver medals, respectively, in group one of under 11, while Julia Crowther won gold in group 1 of under 13.
