Big White hosts U14 provincials

B.C. Alpine championships held over three days at Kelowna area resort

Racers from 17 ski clubs across the province were represented March 17 to 19 at Big White Ski Resort for the 2017 B.C. Alpine Teck U14 championships.

The dual race event featured both Giant Slalom and Slalom races on all three days.

Conditions on Saturday made the event especially difficult but racers persevered through rain and fog to post top times.

Big White racer Anna Dewynter placed 13th in the ladies giant slalom event.

Local ski cross star Kelsey Serwa participated at the awards ceremony handing out medals.

Sunday’s races welcomed the sunshine, as Big White Racer Adam Fricska placed 10th in the men’s giant slalom.

The overall provincial winners for the men were Hemming Sola (first) from Apex, Adam Usher from Whistler (second), and Cameron Seward from Grouse Mountain (third).

The ladies top provincial overall racers were Bryn Applegath (first) from Sun Peaks, Sara Stiel from Whistler (second), and Jaden Dawson from Whistler (third).
