Nik Federko capped off the Thompson-Okanagan junior golf season in style, capturing the Zone 2 Tour championship at Gallagher’s Canyon.

The Two Eagles golfer carded a final round 71 on Sunday for a two-day score of 144, to finish two strokes ahead of Rivershore’s Wyatt Brook (146). Gallagher’s Canyon’s Matt Hopley, 15, finished in third at 151 (73-78), while the Okanagan Golf Club’s Brandon Frechette was sixth at 156 (79-77).

Brook won the 2017 season Order of Merit in convicing fashion with 377.5 points. Hopley, who attends Immaculta Regional High School, was second with 315.5, while Federko was a solid third at 312.5.

Kelowna Golf and Country Club’s Tiegan Taylor captured the girls Zone 2 championship with rounds of 81-77 for a 158 total. Kelowna’s Emma Sabbagh was second at 171.

The B.C. junior girls championship is set for July 4 to 7 at Kelowna’s Okanagan Golf Club.

The B.C. junior boys championship goes the same weekend at Squamish Valley Golf Club.
