Giants stop Rockets’ 4-game winning streak

Vancouver scored four first-period goals to down Kelowna in WHL action.

The Vancouver Giants halted the Kelowna’s four-game WHL winning streak with a 6-1 victory over the Rockets Saturday at the Langley Events Centre.

The Giants jumped on the Rockets, scoring four goals on 18 shots on James Porter in the first period. Roman Basran replaced Porter to start the second period and stopped 17 of 19 shots.

Tyler Benson led the Giants with two goals and an assist.

Marek Skvrne scored the Rockets lone goal on the power play at 6:18 of the third period.

The Rockets (12-7-2-1) will be in Spokane Wednesday night to take on the Chiefs.
