Lucia Jakab has taken the first important step towards her dream of competing in the 2020 Olympic Games.

The Okanagan Gymnastics Centre athlete returned home recently with a silver medal from the Canadian Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Montreal.

Competing in the High Performance Junior category, Lucia finished in second place in the vault.

The result earned Lucia an invitation to the 2020 Olympic hopefuls national team training camp next month in Sarnia, Ont. Only the 25 of the best Canadian High Performance seniors and juniors are invited to the camp.

Lucia is coached by Sergei Chelest and Tatiana Kunitcyna.

OGC’s Jenna Mick also competed in Montreal. In the Junior Olympic Level 10 category, Jenna placed 10th in the floor exercise. She qualified for her first Canadian Championships in April.
