Nolan Foote followed up an impressive rookie season in the WHL by earning a spot on Hockey Canada’s national men’s under 18 team.

The 16-year-old Kelowna Rockets’ forward was one of 22 players named to the final roster for the 2017 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup, Aug. 7 to 12 in Breclav, Czech Republic, and Bratislava, Slovakia.

The five-day national team selection camp wrapped up this week in Calgary.

Foote has competed for Canada once before, playing last year in the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge—an international tournament hosted annually in Canada, featuring three Canadian teams (Red, White, Black) and five international teams.

Foote—the son of former NHLer Adam Foote—was born in Englewood, Colo., but like his older brother, Cal, has dual Canadian/American citizenship.

Last season, as a WHL rookie, Foote had 19 goals and 35 points in 52 games.
