The UBC Okanagan Heat picked up a victory in two tries in Lethbridge, but it wasn’t enough to curb their dwindling playoffs hopes in Canada West women’s basketball.
The split leaves the UBCO women at 3-13 and in 15th place in the conference, three spots back of the final playoff position.
The Lethbridge Pronghorns, who sit at 5-13, hold down the final postseason berth.
On Friday, the Heat ended a seven-game losing streak with their first win of the new year, 72-66 over the hosts.
Chloe Kennedy paced the attack for UBCO with a career best 28 points. Emily Kanester added 14 points and seven assists , while Botteselle and Kennedy led the Heat in rebounds with seven apiece.
On Saturday, Lethbridge scored early and often, then cruised to a 81-44 victory.
Claire Elliott led the offence, finishing with a team-high 11 points. Kennedy, who was perfect from the freee throw line, had nine points for the Heat.
With four games remaining, the Heat will visit the MacEwan Griffins this weekend, Feb. 3 and 4, before closing out the Canada West regular season Feb. 10 and 11 at home to Fraser Valley.

Thd UBCO men were close but still came up empty in both games at the University of Lethbridge.
On Fridsay night, he the Pronghorns held off a fourth quarter charge by the Heat for a 75-71 win.
UBCO’s Matt Lafontaine had the best game of his young collegiate career with 22 points, including going 6-for-8 from beyond the arc.
Buzz Truss picked up 12 points, while Austin Penrose and Aldrich Berrios each had 10 for the Heat.
On Saturday, the Heat started well but in the end succumbed to the Pronghorns 81-63.
Penrose led the UBCO attack with a career-high 16 points. Noma Obaseki finished with 12 for UBCO, while Berrios and Triston Matthews each had 11.
The Heat men (2-14) will on the road to Edmonton this weekend to take on the Grant MacEwan Griffins.
