The Kelowna Raiders’ 2017 season came to a close Sunday night at Rutland Arena with a 7-6 loss to the Kamloops Rattlers.

Mark Jurista’s goal in overtime sent the Rattlers to victory and officially eliminated the Raiders from the Thompson Okanagan Senior Lacrosse League playoff picture.

The result left the two teams tied for second place in the league standings but by virtue of total goals, Kamloops advances to the postseason along with the first-place Armstrong Shamrocks.

The Raiders came from behind to tie the game in the third period and force overtime but were unable to put one past Kamloops goalie Mike Smith, who along with his counterpart on the Raiders, Graham Cousins, both played outstanding games.

With Kamloops sharpshooter A.J. Lockwood out with an injury, J.J. Woldum stepped in to contribute five goals for the winners.

Joe Brown and Vic Wiens scored twice each for the Raiders, with singles from Pho Heng and Cody Evans.

The Rattlers and Armstrong will now face off in the TOSLL championship series beginning July 5.
