Kelowna beats Tri-City Americans Tuesday to take 3-0 lead in WHL playoff series

Cole Linaker scored once and added an assist, and Tyson Baillie netted the game winner midway through the third period as the Rockets downed the Tri-City Americans 5-3 Tuesday night in WHL playoff action in Kennewick, Wash.

The win gave the Rockets a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven first round Western Conference quarterfinal series.

The Rockets held Tri-City to 1-for-9 on the power play while scoring two power play goals and outshooting the Americans 25-22.

Jackson Whistle earned his third straight win. Whistle saw his personal shutout streak snapped at 154:14 when Tri-City scored its first goal of the series, in the second period.

Riley Stadel and Tomas Soustal staked Kelowna to a 2-0 lead while Chance Braid added an insurance marker in the third. Dillon Dube and Lucas Johansen each had a pair of assists.

The Rockets and Americans will play Game 4 on Wednesday night in Tri-City.

If necessary, Game 5 would be Friday night in Kelowna.
