Kelowna stopper posts back-to back shutouts over Tri-City in WHL first-round series

Forty-eight shots, 48 saves and a pair of shutouts.

There were no surprises Tuesday when Jackson Whistle was named the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week.

The 19-year-old stopper for the Kelowna Rockets posted back-to-back shutout wins over the Tri-City Americans on the weekend to open up the Western Hockey League playoffs.

On Friday night in Game 1 at Prospera Place, he made 18 saves and earned third star honours in a 6-0 victory.

On Saturday, the West Kelowna product stopped all 30 shots he faced in Game 2 in claiming second star honours in a 3-0 win.

Whistle and the Rockets are in Kennewick, Wash., Tuesday night for Game 3 of the best of seven first-round series.
