The Kelowna Rockets were more than happy to end the Kamloops Blazers' run of early-season prosperity.

Newly-acquired Cody Fowlie scored twice to lead the Rockets to a 3-0 victory over the Canadian Hockey League's No. 1-ranked team Thursday at Prospera Place.

It was the Blazers' (16-1-0-1) first regulation loss of the 2012-13 WHL season and halted a club-record 14-game winning streak.

Tyrell Goulbourne opened the scoring for Kelowna at 12:38 of the second period with a highlight-reel goal, his first of the season.

Fowlie, claimed off waivers last month from the Everett Silvertips, scored his first goal as a Rocket at 3:22 of the third period after a miscue by Cole Cheveldave. The Blazers goaltender was caught out of position when his clearing attempt found Fowlie's stick just inside the Kamloops blue line.

Fowlie added some insurance for the Rockets with his second goal of the night with just 46 seconds remaining in the third period.

Rockets goaltender Jordon Cooke stopped 19 shots to record his third shutout of the season.

The Rockets (9-6-1-1) return to action Saturday when they play host to the Prince George Cougars.
