Kelowna Rockets WHL News

Thunderbirds knock off Rockets

The Seattle Thunderbirds defeated the Kelowna Rockets 4-1 on Sunday afternoon in Seattle, scoring four straight goals to hand the Rockets just their seventh regulation loss of the WHL season.

Kelowna scored first in the game as Tyrell Goulbourne potted his eighth of the season in the first period. But Seattle scored twice in the second and added a third period marker and an empty net goal to skate away with the win.

Kelowna remains in first place overall in the WHL with a 40-7-0-2 record.

Playing their fourth game in five nights, including the last two nights in Kelowna, the Rockets couldn't muster any more offense after opening the scoring on Goulbourne's short-handed marker in the first period.

The Rockets have another busy week ahead as they return to Kelowna for a Wednesday night home game against the Spokane Chiefs.

Then on the weekend Kelowna and Kamloops will play a home and home series with the Rockets and Blazers meeting on Friday night in Kamloops before hitting the ice Saturday night in Kelowna.
