What a busy offseason for Tyler! He traveled overseas for the Under 18 IIHF World Championships in Kazan, Russia in April. Then headed to Ottawa for the NHL entry draft in June where he was selected 12th overall by the Buffalo Sabres. He then had an extended experience at the Sabres Rookie Camp before eventually making his way back to Kelowna to play his fourth season in the Western Hockey League
He is another towering defenseman on the blue line for the Rockets standing at 6 foot 7 and is able to cover a lot of ice very quickly thanks to his massive strides.
Tyler was the Rockets #1 pick in the 2005 WHL Bantam Draft out of Calgary, Alberta. He made his much anticipated WHL debut on February 26, 2006 in Seattle, before returning to Prospera Place to play in front of the hometown crowd who was in awe of the lengthy 16 year old. Tyler’s first WHL goal was a playoff goal; Game Four of the Western Conference Quarter Final versus the Kootenay Ice on March 29, 2006.
Coach Dillabaugh says, “Tyler will be relied upon heavily this season to provide stability to our defensive core.”
