Three-point BCHL weekend for Warriors

With six key players out of the lineup, the West Kelowna Warriors managed three of a possible four points over the weekend in BCHL action.

Rylan Ferster's squad followed up Friday night's victory over the Victoria Grizzlies with a 2-2 double overtime tie with the Salmon Arm SilverBacks on Saturday night at Royal LePage.

Netminder Garrett Rockafellow stopped six shots for the Warriors in the second extra session of three-on-three hockey, including a penalty shot awarded to Jeff Kennedy.

Brennan Clark and Braxton Bilous scored to give the Warriors 1-0 and 2-1 leads as the Silverbacks battled back each time to tie the game and force overtime.

On Friday, Brett McKinnon's second goal of the night with 54 seconds remaining in the game boosted the Warriors to a 5-4 win over the visiting Grizzlies.

McKinnon finished with two goals and two assists while Shawn Hochhausen had a goal and two assists and Marcus Barara added three assists.

The victory snapped West Kelowna's five-game losing streak.

The Warriors (9-5-1-5) return to action Friday when they host the Merritt Centennials.
