Discover Kelowna’s history through a cemetery tour

Discover the rich history of Kelowna by touring the historic Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery at the foot of Dilworth Mountain.

Kelowna Museums is working with local historian Bob Hayes to share the stories of the founders of Kelowna through a series of guided tours through Kelowna’s Pioneer Cemetery.

Hayes is an active member of the Okanagan Historical Society and the Kelowna and District Genealogical Society.

Discover the rich history of Kelowna by touring the historic Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery at the foot of Dilworth Mountain.

There will be two guided tours, May 16th and May 20th beginning at 11 a.m. Meet at the Pioneer Cemetery in the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, at 1991 Bernard Ave., which is the resting place for many of our early pioneers.

The tour on May 16th will feature those early settlers who are of Asian descent to commemorate Asian Heritage Month and the new Asian Heritage exhibit at Kelowna Museums.

The tour on May 20th will showcase the Far East section of the Pioneer Cemetery.

Each tour takes approximately one hour. There is a $5 charge. Please access the area with caution as the road way is under construction due to the installation of a new irrigation supply line.
