To get prepared for wildfire season and learn about fire safety at FireSmart open houses being held in West Kelowna and Lake Country.
Residents are invited to attend either family-friendly event to become aware of FireSmart programs and meet local firefighters.
In West Kelowna, the activities include:
- Play in the kids’ activity zone;
- Meet Ember the Fire Fox and Sparky the Fire Dog;
- Enjoy free food and refreshments;
- Watch live FireSmart demos with our firefighters;
- Spray a fire hose;
- Learn how to be FireSmart;
- Prep your home for fire season.
In Lake Country:
- Tour the fire station and check out the fire apparatus;
- Talk to the firefighters about how your household can be better prepared;
- Try out some of the many activities the firefighters have planned for you;
- Enjoy a free hot dog prepared by the Rotary Club of Lake Country.
Both events are happening from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 24. In West Kelowna, it is taking place at Fire Hall 31 - 3651 Old Okanagan Highway, while in Lake Country it's at Station 71 at 11063 Okanagan Centre Road East.
