Hayley Wickenheiser in Kelowna for KidSport™

Hayley Wickenheiser, five-time Olympic medalist, is in Kelowna May 31 to help kids get in the game.

West Coast Authentic looks to increase the number of Kelowna kids who will be taking to the fields and rinks this year as a result of their upcoming fundraiser: West Coast Authentic ‘Hanging with Hayley’ at Tonics Pub for KidSport™ Kelowna on Saturday, May 31.

The events feature an afternoon autograph signing for all ages at West Coast Authentic, 1863 Harvey Ave. in Kelowna, and an evening ‘Hanging with Hayley’ including food, drinks, silent auction, live entertainment and Q&A with Hayley Wickenheiser at Tonics Pub., 4 to 6 p.m.

All proceeds from the evening help provide financially disadvantaged kids in Kelowna with the opportunity to take part in a season of sport and learn valuable life lessons. In 2013, the KidSport™ Kelowna Community Chapter helped more than 200 kids get involved in organized sport and develop healthy lifestyle habits and social skills, and they are looking to further grow that number.

“West Coast Authentic is thrilled to be hosting Hayley Wickenheiser in Kelowna on May 31, 2014 in support of KidSport Kelowna,” says Jason Bobbitt, founder/president of West Coast Authentic Ltd. “Not only is Ms. Wickenheiser a decorated hockey player, she is a recognized, genuine person who cares about a child’s access to organized sport programs.

“Her involvement with KidSport makes this event a natural fit. While we are sure that she will attract a lot of attention from young female hockey players here in the Okanagan, Ms. Wickenheiser is a sport personality that everyone can appreciate.

WCA hopes that everyone gets time to enjoy her visit at one of the scheduled opportunities all while supporting the fantastic initiatives of KidSport”.

Although KidSport™ is a national program, the realization of programs and funding lies in the hands of the community. KidSport™ BC oversees 40 community chapters, like KidSport™ Kelowna, and 300 direct volunteers who work tirelessly to provide opportunities for children all over the province to get in the game. For more information on how you can support KidSport™, visit www.kidsport.ca.

Tickets are $20/person and include a burger and a beer.

To purchase tickets, visit West Coast Authentic at 1863 Harvey Ave., Kelowna, contact 250-448-9939 or email info@westcoastauthentic.com and KidSportTM Kelowna at 645 Dodd Road, Kelowna, contact 250-469-8852 or email kelowna@kidsportcanada.ca.
