KGH Foundation fundraiser to impact traffic on Saturday

KGH Foundation hosts 5K Run in Colour fundraiser, Saturday, Sept. 20.

Kelowna General Hospital Foundation will host the Run in Colour five-kilometre fun run next Saturday, Sept. 20.

Registration takes place Friday, Sept. 19 from noon to 6 p.m. at the Rotary Centre for the Arts, corner Cawston and Ellis.

Warm up for the run begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, but get there early to find parking at Chapman’s Parkade on Lawrence in Kelowna, and make your way to City Park’s North Field.

The run starts at 10 a.m. participants will leave in waves from City Park, along Kelowna’s waterfront boardwalk, through Stuart Park and the Cultural District, to Waterfront Park and back to City Park along the boardwalk.

While there are no road closures as participants will be using sidewalks and pathways, motorists are still advised to watch for participants along the route.

Traffic control personnel will be visible and motorists may experience minor disruptions where participants cross Water Street (north of Smith Avenue), as well as Cawston Avenue and Water Street near Prospera Place.

Parking restrictions will be in effect from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the following areas:

• West side of Water Street from the Yacht Club to the Water Street Boat Launch

• Queensway parking lot

• Dolphins parking lot (adjacent to Rhapsody Plaza at Waterfront Park)

• Water Street Boat Launch and parking lot

City Park parking lot will also be closed from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Public parking is available at various parking lots downtown, including Chapman Parkade on Lawrence Avenue and the Library Parkade on Ellis Street.
