The local community is encouraged to turn out on Friday, Nov.30, for the inaugural Light up The Night Against Crime event which will coincide with the lighting of the Tree of Hope at Landmark Square.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. in the Capri East parking lot, with the lighting ceremony for the Tree of Hope to occur at 7 p.m.
A candlelight walk to the Tree of Hope will honour “Light The Night” as patrons walk to spread awareness of a safer community for our children.
The Tree of Hope at Landmark Centre has been an inspiration and a bright symbol of hope to the community for the last 15 years.
Over 120-feet tall, the Tree of Hope has about 25,000 bulbs, meant to serve as a visible reminder to local residents that Christmas is a time of generosity, compassion and to bring joy to friends and family.
This year, Crime Stoppers would like to reach their goal of raising $1 for each of the 25,000 bulbs on the Tree of Hope.
Make sure to keep an eye out for the cheerful elves who will be rewarding every $5 donation made that evening with a “Light The Night” holiday keepsake.
Light up the Night Against Crime will be a family night with hot chocolate, festivities, a Christmas choir, and a holiday greeting by local dignitaries. The torch lit walk will begin at 6:30 p.m.
