Iconic Canadian band the Barenaked Ladies have just announced it will perform its very first concert in Vernon, Nov. 9 at 8 p.m.

Traditionally an arena act, BNL, with special guest, is giving a series of intimate theatre shows in November as part of its cross-Canada 1-FIVE-0 tour.

The band is still together after nearly three decades. In that time frame, original members Ed Robertson (guitar, vocals), Jim Creeggan (bass, vocals), Kevin Hearn (keyboards, guitar, vocals), and Tyler Stewart (drums, vocals) have produced 14 studio albums, which have collectively sold more than 14 million copies.

The band have won eight Juno Awards, earned multiple Grammy nominations, and have had a U.S. chart topping single (One Week) and wrote the theme song to one of television’s most popular shows, The Big Bang Theory.

“I don’t think there’s a secret,” Ed Robertson explained to People Magazine last year, when asked how BNL managed to not only survive, but thrive, while continuing to sell out venues wherever they go. “It’s work. You’ve got to respect each other, you have got to give each other space, but you also have to support each other. We wanted to keep making music.”

BNL have most recently done a very special collaboration with the legendary “Kings of A Cappella,” The Persuasions, with an album simply titled, Ladies and Gentlemen, Barenaked Ladies and the Persuasions. It is set to be released April 14. The album features 14 tracks with BNL’s award-winning catalogue and the classic, Good Times.

Tickets for the Barenaked Ladies’ 1-FIVE-0 Tour will go on sale to the general public Friday, March 17 at 9 a.m. All seats are reserved for this event. You can purchase tickets at the Ticket Seller box office or call 250-549-7469 or order online at www.ticketseller.ca

The Barenaked Ladies’ 1-FIVE-0 show, Thursday, Nov. 9 is a presentation of the Kootenay Concert Connection in association with The Morning Star.
