The following 12 local artists will be featured on K96.3s K Comp Vol. 2 CD to be released in October: The Flu, My Kind of Karma, Jayson Bendera, Mark Irving, Calum Hughes, Aaron Gordon, Dan Oig, Trinity’s Tattoo, Devon Coyote, Thomas Kjorven featuring Shameless, Jeff Piattelli and Bucknife.

Submissions came in from across the Okanagan for the second installation of the emerging artist compilation and K96.3 and Music BC would like to thank all who applied and urges those who didn’t make it to this year’s compilation to reapply next year.

The K Comp Emerging Artist Series started off in 2010 as a way for K96.3—Kelowna’s Classic Rock to promote and lend a helping hand to local artists. “In the first year of the K Comp, our main goal was to create new opportunities for our local emerging artists and to help them build relationships within the industry. How great would it be if we could discover some of the next classics in our own backyard?” said station manager Dallas Gray.

“We are very proud of last year’s accomplishments and we are very excited to be able to provide the same opportunities for this year’s 12 K Comp artists.”

Not only will the K Comp Vol. 2 artists appear on the compilation and receive on-air recognition but, new to this year, they will have the opportunity to showcase at the Pop Okanagan Festival—a legacy event to replace BreakOut West that took place in Kelowna last October.

The festival, taking place Oct.13 to 15, will give emerging artists the chance to gain recognition through showcasing to a varied festival audience as well as having the opportunity to open for some big name Canadian artists.

K Comp artists will also take part in a career development workshop presented by Music BC.

The K Comp emerging artist series, created by K96.3 and Music BC, aims to give up-and-coming artists in the Okanagan publicity through the album and on-air promotion, career development through Music BC workshops with industry professionals as well as a variety of live performance opportunities.

Be sure to stay tuned to K96.3—Kelowna’s Classic Rock for the official release date of the K Comp Vol. 2.
