Kelowna Art Gallery to host fundraiser

GO Party! event to feature visual art, music, art-making and local food.

  • May. 17, 2012 4:00 p.m.

The Kelowna Art Gallery will host the 6th annual GO Party! fundraising event, entitled Illuminate, on  Friday, June 22,  from 7 to 10 p.m.

Illuminate will kick off the Okanagan’s favourite season, while shining a light on the variety of exhibitions and programming available at the art gallery this summer.

The evening will feature three bars, a summer-themed buffet, door prizes and silent auction, a photo studio, four exhibitions, a hands-on art activity (lantern making), lawn bocce, and musical entertainment by local recording artists Thomas Kjorven and Jeff Piattelli.

Proceeds from this fundraising event will benefit the art gallery’s educational programming, including our school tour program, Family Sundays and Art Adventures art camps.

Held on one of the longest days of the year, the event also celebrates the summer solstice. Guests are invited to break out their bright colours and dress to impress— think fun, sophisticated, cocktail-friendly beach and patio wear!

This fundraising event coincides with the opening of the exhibition, Bearing Witness, on view at the Kelowna Art Gallery from June 23 to Aug. 19. The exhibition features 41 pieces by 27 artists.
