Calvin Harris will headline a more diversified Centre of Gravity line up

Kelowna’s Centre of Gravity shows new breadth to appease City Hall

Calvin Harris, Matt & Kim, Chromeo and Tegan & Sara to play the Okanagan beach festival

Calvin Harris, Matt and Kim, Chromeo and Tegan & Sara will all play the Kelowna’s premier beach festival this year in a Centre of Gravity line-up with more breadth than years gone by.

“Some of the hottest names in EDM, hip-hop and live music will be performing on four stages throughout the weekend, including electronic heavy-hitter Calvin Harris, Canadian electrofunk duo Chromeo, hip-hop all-star J. Cole, fresh from his U.S. tour (MECOG is currently his only scheduled Canadian stop), and Juno Award-winning indie rockers Tegan and Sara,” said the release issued by Wet Ape products Tuesday.

MECOG retains its strong focus on dance music and has expanded the roster into a number of genres in effort to appease concerned city officials who criticized the locally-grown event last year for straying from its well-managed roots into raucous partying.

The festival will feature artists such as Adventure Club, Matt & Kim, Morgan Page, The Glitch Mob (DJ Set), Capital Cities, Chris Lake, Borgeous, Trinidad James, Bro Safari, Dizzy Wright, Robert Delong, Savoy, Bas, Torro Torro, Victor Niglio, Odesza and Botnek.

The expected 30,000 festival-goers will also have the opportunity to see 150 world-class athletes competing in seven extreme sports: beach volleyball, basketball, freestyle mountain biking, wakeboarding, freestyle motocross, skateboarding and BMX.

The sports lineup, including participating athletes and celebrity hosts, will be announced in June.

Early Bird tickets have already sold out, but a limited number of three-day passes are currently available at $209.95, with a final batch to be released for $239.95.
