Learn about volunteering at the Opportunities Fair

So many things to do, ways to help out in the Okanagan.

Are you new to the Central Okanagan and want to expand your network and get to know people?  Are you recently retired, want to share your wealth of experience and knowledge, but want to head south during the winter?  Are you a student who needs volunteer hours?  Are you an individual for whom volunteering as a life-long passion?

Finding the perfect volunteer opportunity raises a lot of questions for these people and many others.

On Sept. 20 when you walk through the doors at Parkinson Recreation Centre between 10 am and 3 pm to attend the annual Okanagan Volunteer Opportunities Fair, you will find answers to your questions and more.

In fact there will be over 70 organizations there to talk with you about how you can help improve the lives of others through their programs and services.

Don’t know which questions to ask when you get to the Fair?  Knowing more about yourself will make finding the perfect fit a lot easier.

So, before you head to the fair try some of our checklists at www.kcr.ca/community-services/publications/.  The ‘Why volunteer’, ‘What interests you’ and ‘Skills Inventory’ can help you think differently about what you’re looking for, and, what you have to offer.

You can also create your online volunteer profile to automatically receive e-matches when new volunteer opportunities are entered by local organizations.  Here’s how.

Start at www.kcr.ca.
