In our home, the holiday season is a focus. My husband begins the count down on Boxing Day, saying: “It is only 354 days until Christmas.” I hear these types of comments on the 25th day of each month.
At Kelowna Community Resources, we are now beginning to gather information about activities planned throughout the Central Okanagan from mid-November through to New Year’s Day.
This is your nonprofit organization’s opportunity to receive free promotion through 50,000 copies of the 2013 Holiday Events Guide.
We are gathering information about free and low cost community dinners, hampers, sponsoring families, agency wish lists, children’s events, craft fairs and bazaars, community-wide events, and church services.
Here is what we need.
• Name of event, date, location and time
• Name of sponsoring organization and phone number for more information
• 25 word description maximum. What is it? Who can attend? Need to pre-register?
Why not look at last year’s guide and see what your organization submitted? Go to www.kcr.ca, resources/publications tab, community services, events or pug in this link to see the 2012 Holiday Events Guide: http://bit.ly/1e7bwjf.
You will find there was a Twinkle Tour to see the Christmas lights. A chance to build a gingerbread house at Parkinson Recreation Centre and a free movie showing at the downtown Kelowna Library.
Christmas tree light-up activities were held in Lake Country, Rutland, Kelowna, West Kelowna and Peachland.
There was a Breakfast with Santa and then an opportunity to wear off those calories at the Polar Bear Run and Walk.
Music was in the air! Recitals and concerts were organized by Kelowna Community Music School, the Lutheran Church on Lakeshore and the Anglican Church in West Kelowna.
Families were sponsored, hampers organized and donations of grocery gift cards, gifts or cash were welcomed at many nonprofit organizations.
Send information about your free or low cost holiday activity for this season to email@example.com or phone 250-763-8008 ext 25.
The deadline is Nov 1.
