H.O.P.E. Outreach, a non-profit group dedicated to supporting vulnerable women, has ceased operations due to financial challenges.
The organization provided services in Kelowna and Vernon including night time outreach, harm reduction, education, events and volunteer opportunities, an anti-overdose program and men’s outreach.
Most of the programs shut down on June 7, but a post on the H.O.P.E. Facebook pages is hopeful other community groups will take them over.
H.O.P.E’s bad date reporting program and 24/7 hot line, will continue.
“Thank you everyone for your heart felt messages this has been a very difficult decision to make and one that was not made lightly,” the Facebook post reads.
It also states that the board of directors spent more than 12 months trying to ensure the programs could continue, but financial challenges proved too much to overcome.
“You can be angry, sad, upset, all of the emotions are valid emotions,” the post said. “Your grace and appreciation is welcomed during these very challenging times.”
