A report of a group of teen boys possibly chasing around and threatening to mace a group of young females at a nearby gathering in a field, had RCMP responding to the 300 block of Hartman Road on Oct. 26.
Police arrived on the scene at about 6:45 p.m. and spoke with witnesses who confirmed no one was assaulted but also couldn’t confirm the presence of a weapon.
The incident was posted to Kelowna Alert's Facebook page, with a mother stating that 30 kids dressed in dark clothing and clown masks were chasing other children around Rutland with “bear mace."
The parent claimed that this group of kids had “crashed two parties” and that her daughter was at one of the parties, where 911 had to be called and others waited inside the YMCA to be picked up.
Cpl. Michael Gauthier said that officers remained with several young females until their respective parents and/or guardians came to collect them.
“Police made extensive patrols for this group, however, were unable to locate them and there were no further reported incidents,” said Col. Gauthier.
